Adana the Earth Dragon

Today, faithful kingdomites, I have the pleasure of introducing you to Debbie Manber Kupfer and her newest book.

You might recognize her name from Fauxpocalypse, where she also had a short story like I did…. but, it is actually more likely you recognize her from one of her many other novels and projects.  She is quite prolific.

So, without further adieu, Adana, her newest character, is here to talk a little bit about what’s going on….

………

Happy Earth Day! Adana the Earth Dragon is officially out in the World Today!

AdanaEarthCropped
Hi everyone! I’m here! Today’s the day that my book ADANA THE EARTH DRAGON finally is released into the world. Want to read a sample? Sure you do:
Once upon a time there was a small brown dragon called Adana. Adana was an earth dragon and Adana was very sad. She longed to play with the other dragons, but none of them would accept her as a friend. “It’s because I’m small and brown and boring” she said. “No one wants to be friends with an earth dragon.”
The air dragons would soar through the sky, their wings outstretched. Adana wished she could join them up in their playground of clouds, but she had no wings.
The water dragons would glide effortlessly through the lagoon, playing tag and Marco Polo. Adana yearned to join in their games, but sadly she could not swim.
The fire dragons scared little Adana with their tremendous scaly scarlet forms and flames that could toast two hundred marshmallows with one puff. Adana secretly tried gargling with fire water to see if she might make a flame, but she only gave herself a sore throat. Poor Adana, she could never be a fire dragon.
So sad little Adana slunk into her cave, curled up in a corner, and took a nap.

Thinking About Holiday Shopping?

But not quite sure what to get those special people in your life?

Well, you’ve come to the right place because I have plenty of suggestions for you.  The Kingdom wholeheartedly endorses the following wonderful books:

Fauxpocalypse:

Life on Earth is predicted to end on 15 July 2015. But the oncoming megatons of rock and ice break up shortly before impact. Now humanity must live in a world most believed would not exist. Across the planet, people are haunted by the future they did not fear, and even those who did not embrace death must face the consequences of others’ decisions. A collection of twelve stories about rebuilding hope.

*Shameless plug: I wrote one of the stories in this collection*

…..

The Erratic Sun:

Here’s one of my favorite passages from the book, which is why I chose to tease you all with it by placing it on the back cover:

Shift danced the Erratic Sun in a life or death waltz among the stars. All the while, Gillian and Dane monitored the engine’s performance and the slow reduction of the ship’s shields and Trink, Hatcher and Captain Dadam did their best to score hits against the modified freighters that had ambushed their departure from Corment. The hull shuddered equally under the erratic jerks to avoid incoming fire, sporadically punctuating Shift’s smooth handling of his evasive protocols, and under hits to the ship the pilot wasn’t able to dodge. With each impact, the curses the pilot muttered grew in intensity and their creativity fell off. The spray of laser fire missing their targets, spreading out from the Erratic Sun’s three gun turrets, ran to the limits of the gunners’ visions before being swallowed by the darkness of space. Chaos reigned.

*Another shameless plug, as if it weren’t already obvious:  I wrote this story with Revis*

And the best part of these gifts is that not only will they be thoroughly enjoyed by whoever you gift them to, but the purchase of them is also a gift to the authors you are then supporting.  In this case, we are talking about me here, so thank you in advance.

Fauxpocalypse –  Kindle Version

The collection has 13 stories…  one of which was written by me!  And, here’s a little excerpt from mine:

The hours seemed to stretch out to eternity as Jake lay awake in bed deep into the night.  He wasn’t sleeping.  He hadn’t been sleeping and he saw nor relief in his immediate future.  The events of the day had been troubling enough, bu his mind wouldn’t stop nagging him that was something else wasn’t right, that something needed his immediate attention  He just had no clue what that was.

The night was quiet.  Without a moon, not even the coyotes were disturbing the stillness with their calls and howls.  The house had long since settled down for the evening so there were no more pops, creaks or groans.  It seemed like someone could have stepped onto his dirt driveway all the way up at the road and Jake would have been able to clearly hear the crunch of the gravel.

Frustrated with himself for not being able to fall asleep and irritated with George and Carl for what they had done, Jake carefully slipped out of bed so he didn’t disturb Helen and made his way down the hall to the kitchen.  It had reached that point in the night where his concern over how tired he would be the next morning was keeping him awake.  He planned on pouring himself a glass of water for the pitcher and hoped that there was still some left from the last time it had been filled.

However, as he walked into the kitchen he could see wisps of lights out the window.  He quickly stepped up to the sink and saw the very distinct beams of light that only flashlights can produce coming from the south side of his property, from an area very near where someone kept cutting through his fence.  He frowned, brow furrowed, eyes glaring, and his hands gripped the counter-top in front of him fiercely.
