Time is a funny thing. I’m pretty sure we can all agree on that. I had no clue what I was getting into when I started this blog…
And here we are. Ten years of the kingdom, of silliness and stories, of seeing where my words could go. I’ve certainly had a blast. I hope you all have as well.
I’ve been trying to stick with themes this year, posting every Wednesday to stay in some sort of routine and have each month be it’s own story. Something like that. As I have nothing for this month I think starting next week we’ll take a stroll down memory lane and revisit some of my favorite posts from the last ten years.
It’s been an interesting journey, that’s for sure.
I never thought I would be a blogger, until I was.
Looking back, I hardly recognize the beginning.
So much has changed, me included.
Thank you for your role in making the Kingdom a success.
Thank you for the comments and encouragement and love.
It is the Kingdom’s turn for celebration, but we here would rather celebrate you.
Without you, the words here would mean less.
Without you, the kingdom would have fallen long ago.
This little kingdom wouldn’t shine, nearly as bright or true,
If not for all the time you spend here and if not for all you do.
So, I’ll keep on trying to write truths and beauty for you,
Because, silly rhymes aside, my words are the best thank yous.
Hey all, did you notice the big change? The banner and theme change and total layout reconfiguration are all the work of the one and only Twindaddy.
Very nice, right? Do you concur, like a … well, you know. No? Maybe? I’d love to hear what you think about it, and of course, you should definitely jump over and say hello to Twindaddy as well.
And, there might be a few more changes to the look and flow of the kingdom today, if my head can ever release itself from the cold medicine fog its been in the last couple days, as I play around with settings and other such stuph.
One last thing: start the imperial march song in your head, or actually play it if you have it readily available, and link drop:
Matticus here, your official tour guide, jester, scribe, and all around nuisance, from the kingdom…
I am at a loss for words.
I started this blog in August 2012 without a clear idea of what I was doing, or why I was doing it. I knew I liked writing. The idea of a creative outlet was appealing. But, I had no thoughts about how much fun this would become, how many of you I would interact with on a regular basis, and how much positive feedback and encouragement you would send my way regarding my writing.
I am flabbergasted.
(Yes, I just like using that word.)
So… without knowing how to say it more elegantly:
I keep coming back because you are here. I keep writing more and trying different styles and challenges because you encourage me to. I keep testing the limits of my abilities because I know you will catch me if I fall. You, my faithful readers, my wonderful kingdomites, my amazing followers have helped turn this kingdom into something special for me, and there is no way I can thank you properly for that.
But, I will try.
Do you have a request for me? Something you want me to write about? A new series you want me to start? A guest post you want me to write for you?
You have done so much for me, what can I do for you?
Ask of me what you will and I will do my best to make it happen.
I started The Matticus Kingdom here on Word Press with a small amount of rambling and one sentence that summed it all up: “It’s an adventure.”
And an adventure it has been.
I’ve had some friends over and gone visiting too. We had some great times and even managed a game or two of tug-of-war. I’ve written an entire story and have been steadily working a second, while also typing up some fiction in response to challenges here and here. Awards were received and re-gifted. And you all suffered patiently through me waxing philosophical about the beautiful game from time to time. And you’ve been even more patient with my movie quoting madness.
Looking back, there have been some great moments:
I was Freshly Pressed for my “Potential.”
I told you about the day I got married, it was surreal.
And wrote a love poem to my wife.
I let out my inner cadence.
I brought a friend to tears.
I explained why Tuesday is the worst day of the week. (It’s true, it is.)
I may have laughed at the expense of others.
I welcomed my son into the world. (I still haven’t given him the keys to the kingdom.)
And, well, all of them. I’d link back to all my posts because I’ve enjoyed every single one of them and every single moment spent on Word Press. That is entirely because of you dear readers, faithful followers, wonderful kingdomites. You’ve made this whole crazy ride worthwhile.
So, thank you.
