Wild-places’ Hum

Feeling the sun-warmed soil beneath your feet,
And pulling the clean air into your lungs.
There’s something to be said for leaving comfort behind,
For struggle and triumph in the day’s unblocked heat,
And successfully challenge whatever comes.
There’s something to be said for cresting summits,
Filling your spirit with the world’s steady beat,
And your heart pounds a matching drum.
There’s something to be said for what few others dare,
Following the path less traveled but far more sweet,
And picking up the sound, the wild-places’ hum.
