Your words infect my thoughts and I can’t shake free of them.
They spread across my body.
I slap at the itch, the tingling and twitching, the raising flesh.
I don’t look, because I know nothing is there, but I want to.

Is something crawling on me?
Hooray for a new Gargleblaster! Do you have anything crawling on you this morning?
You gotta look! 😉 I love this one.
Of course, I have to… I need to know.
that’s what i thought!
Part of being a control freak.
noo not you
Hah!!
Well played.
😉
😛
Happens to me all the time.
I’m sorry to hear that! Just thinking about it sends shivers up my spine…
I think I am afraid to look…
That’s a good reason not to.
I almost looked… great take, DJ!
Thank you! 😀
Hard not to look… when you feel the tingling moving up your arm…
Sounds like there is more than meets the eye with this one! 🙂
There usually is. 😉
sounds like bad gossip , the way it starts and burrows into other people’s days, taking on a life of its own.
This was well written…
Thank you.
Yep, gossip was definitely on my mind, but mostly if was just the way some things, once said, are impossible can make your skin crawl. Words have power to impact all of our senses.
The rumination of things?
Ah, yes. I agree.
😀
This one really made me think. I dig various implications here. Slapping the itch – awesome image.
Thank you! 😀
Very nice metaphor, and very thought-provoking. The way words get under our skin… Thanks for linking up!
Yep, glad you liked it! Thanks for providing the prompts!
oh boy, it does take someone we care about to say something with such impact.
Yep, they know the right words, and the right inflection, to really get under our skin.
No penicillin for words. Nice write!
No, you are right. Though, alcohol can help sometimes. 😉
Love the last line. Nice job!
Thank you! 😀
whew! You must have worked retail. This poem summarizes every uncomfortable conversation I was subjected to while working at a bookstore. Elegantly done!
The only uncomfortable conversation I had while working in a book store was with a customer who wasn’t happy that his custom order had arrived. What none of us knew at the time was that the order had never been placed because the owner was in the process of shutting the business down. Whoops.
Love where you took us with this one DJ-many interpretations come to the mind and not one pleasant 😉 Great job!
Thank you!
🙂
This is very thought provoking. Words do so much good, or so much damage. I’m a looker, so I’d have to look!
Me too. Have to look. As much as I didn’t want to, I’d want to know even more.
You always have to look. That is just how it is.
Yep, completely agree!
Don’t be afraid. You can do it!
Hahaha, thanks! 😀
Brilliantly written…I love the powerful ways you involved the senses.
Thank you. 😀
Just getting to this now. Hard to keep in touch on the road. I did write something for this but glad did not submit. I did write this week. I’m still catching up
Happy catching up. I hope you find some good stories to read, and then I hope you share some as well. How was your trip?
