“I couldn’t worm nothing out of him.”
“You used pliers?”
“Yeah. He screamed a lot but wouldn’t give up his friends.”
“Get rid of him.”
“Nothing personal,” he’d always wanted to say that.

Word Count: 33
I feel like I could tackle this challenge every day this week and come up with something different. There were so many ways I wanted to go with it. There was so much more detail I could have put in if I’d been allowed a few more more words. Who’s the boss? Who’s the henchman? Who’s their captive?
I might have to revisit this story later to expand on it anyway.
But, for now, these 33 words were in response to the current Trifecta Writing Challenge:
WORM (transitive verb)
1a : to proceed or make (one’s way) insidiously or deviously<worm their way into positions of power — Bill Franzen>
b : to insinuate or introduce (oneself) by devious or subtle means
c : to cause to move or proceed in or as if in the manner of a worm
2 : to wind rope or yarn spirally round and between the strands of (a cable or rope) before serving
Remember:
• Your response must be exactly 33 words.
• You must use the 3rd definition of the given word in your post.
• The word itself needs to be included in your response.
• You may not use a variation of the word; it needs to be exactly as stated above.
• Only one entry per writer.
• If your post doesn’t meet our requirements, please leave your link in the comments section, not in the linkz.
• Trifecta is open to everyone. Please join us.
Have you ever used your powers of persuasion to worm information from someone?

Short, sweet and to the point. Poor fella.
He might have deserved it.
I’m not sure yet. The 33 word limit killed me this time.
Great job parsing it down to just 33 words.
A perfect polaroid of a moment.
Thanks!
I’m not sure about “perfect,” but I’ll take it anyway.
But when it come down to it, it usually is personal.
I’d say it is always personal to the, um, person who is about to get whacked.
I love the way you tackle these challenges. Very clever, as always
Thank you. 🙂
what’s with the 33 words schtick
That’s just what they do.
Hoodlum.
Hoodrat?
If you revisit it, this will be a fitting preview.
That’s what I was thinking… this is the cliff hanger I start the story with and then jump back to the beginning.
I hate to think of what the pliers were used on….
fingernails. It was originally written in but had to be sacrificied to the word count.
Ah, well, that’s not so bad then. No more trouble with hangnails then…
Pesky hangnails! And the solution is so easy…
so few words but so much imagery. great post!
Thank you!
Love this bouncing back and forth and you still manage to capture the scene wonderfully in such a few words. Thanks for linking up!
Glad you liked it!
Very nice! You know, they gave us a Trifextra challenge once that was to tell the same story from three different perspectives. I’d love to see this go that way. 🙂
Now that’s a fun idea! I might have to do just that. Thanks for the idea!
