5 days. 5 books. 5 contests. 5 winners.
Seems pretty straightforward to me. This week in The Matticus Kingdom I will be hosting a new game/contest each day. The winner each day will recieve a signed copy of Fauxpocalypse.
Doesn’t that sound great?!
Let’s get to it!
1ST CONTEST:
Let’s start off easy. Leave a comment or multiple comments, as many as you’d like. At the end of the day I will assign a number to each comment and then use the randbetween Excel function to select a winner.
Super easy. All you have to do is comment and you could win a copy of the book. The more you comment the more chances you have to win.
So, what do you want to talk about? What’s on your mind?
Oh, prizes for comments, its all good.
It is all good, yes.
So I know I already bought it but I really need one with your good ol’ Herbie Hancock plastered on the inside. Mkay? Thanks. Bye.
Who wouldn’t want my signature?
Heck, I even want my signature! Maybe I should sign the copy I’m keeping for myself….
Ummm – I would totally do that 🙂
Hahahaha
Okay, here’s what I’m going to write.
“Matt,
You are awesome, keep on writing, and don’t worry, Arden would sign her own books too.
*insert scrawling signature with lots of loops and squiggles*”
Your Excel skills are strong.
Hahaha
Thanks.
Though, the work me is currently working on writing some vba script using a sql query to pull data similar data from two different servers and only display the information that matches, so I can use that information to populate a PivotTable used as a check against hard coded files. 😉 That seems slightly more impressive than knowing the randbetween formula. 😛
That looks like English, but I have no idea what any of it means.
That’s okay. I only sort of know what it means.
Hell, even I’m smart enough to enter this phase of the contest.
Sell a million of ’em, dj!
Thank you, sir.
Best of luck! 😉
Go Team DC!
Wait, that was last week…um, how are you today?
Go Team Marvel.
My fingers are tired from all the tallying they’ve been doing. And I feel like I’m missing a ton of responses… like WP ate them or something.
But, with the FP from today I think I’m going to give the tug-of-war a couple more days… just to see what happens.
How are you?
That’s a good idea to see if anyone else weighs in (or whatever you do to join a tug-of-war).
Grab a side and start pulling! 😉
So I’m still on my first cup of coffee. How are you fairing?
I’m sorry I missed this yesterday. I was well past my first cup of coffee then, though today I’m on my first cup. I was doing okay. I’m still doing okay. And you?
Hello! I’m almost ready for my second cup. It’s cloudy, cold and drizzly here so a very slow start. How about where you’re at?
Kind of hazy, but not really cloudy. Warm, or it will be shortly. Sadly. I’m ready for winter already. I know I have the luxury of saying that because my winter is never really as bad as most people have it, but I did move away from the desert for a reason.
I didn’t know you were a desert rat too. I spent most of my life (which is considerable) in Albuquerque. I miss the stark beauty and colors, but not the lack of water, dry skin, and constantly shocking myself. We haven’t had a real “traditional” winter so far here in the Northwest. Would like to see some more snow, but not like they are dealing with in the mid part of the country.
Yeah, I grew up in the Mojave Desert. Very near Death Valley. (Our town sign on the two freeways that go closest to us (but not through us) proclaims: Visit Ridgecrest: Gateway to Death Valley. The kids of the town, with nothing better to do, often paint over “Valley.”)
hahahaha! I guess you really are a desert rat. I have not had the pleasure of traveling through Death Valley. I should probably add that to my bucket list. 🙂
Might I suggest doing so in winter. Or, very early spring. If you time it right you can see all the wildflowers in bloom. It’s actually very nice.
You know, if you do this right, this could give Art’s blog a run for the money with comments.
That is exactly what I was hoping for!
Commenting.
Woot.
What’s this Excel business?
It’s a Microsoft Office Program, I’m sure you’ve heard of it. It’s kind of small potatoes in the grand scheme of things, but it sure gets around.
That doesn’t sound “easy” at all, Excel stuff.
It’s pretty easy.
Ok, it turns out that four comments is my max. Lol.
4 Comments total, or just 4 separate threads?
In other words, will you be responding to my responses to your comments?
Do I get more entries for responding to your responses to my comments which were initial responses to your post?
Yes. All comments, responses, pingbacks, trackbacks, etc… will be counted as an entry.
Oh Don, you’re going to make me look bad now!
I think the only person Don can make look bad, is Don himself.
I am fine, DJ, how are you?
Wait, was I supposed to reply to the original comment? oopsie
I don’t know.
Are there rules to these sorts of things?
Are there?
Who knows such things?
The Shadow knows…
Boom!
Great comment! 😀
I would have also accepted: “Only the Oracle.”
Ouch. You’re going to have to figure out how to sort the number if it lands on one of your comments here.
Um, if it lands on me, I’ll just refresh the formula and see who it lands on next. And, in the victory comment at the end I’ll let you all know how I got to that decision so you can double check my counting.
Blogging as homework?
ARGH!!!
I know. It’s terrible.
Speaking of… Rara gave me some homework over a week ago that I haven’t touched yet. Egad, I’m failing!!
And it’s Rara, so there’s the extra guilt of letting her down, which no one wants to do.
Exactly! Hopefully today I can get cracking on the homework. So much to do! Tug-of-War tallying to tally. Books to give away. Work to do. *fist shaking* Pesky work!!
🙂 I could never be let down by the likes of Matticus & Guap.
Don’t say “never!” That’s too much pressure on us. Well, me anyway. Guap is in a league all his own.
And I have no idea what any of that means. I’m just being silly.
Maybe then it goes to whoever he was replying to?
What the what?
Who replied to what?
I’m lost!!
It happens to me a lot in the kingdom so don’t worry. I’ll find myself again soon. Probably. Maybe. Okay, you might want to organize a search party.
I would like to take this opportunity to say that The Beatles are fab and that DJ is awesomesauce.
Did I win? 😉
You might win!
I am susceptible to flattery though… so… keep piling it on. It certainly won’t hurt your chances. 😉
Your blog! Did you redecorate?? It looks positively stunning!
Oh, how sweet of you to say so. Nope, haven’t done anything, it’s just as frumpy as ever.
Frumpy? Nonsense. I think it is very un-frumpy.
You’re the best!
I keep seeing other blogs update and move stuff around and I just haven’t carved out the time to renovate the Kingdom yet. I’m failing at keeping up with the Joneses.
A bit of feathers really livens a place up, fyi.
You’re best of all!
Feathers? Why hadn’t I thought of that! I will incorporate feathers for sure when I do get around to sprucing the place up.
Awesomesauce! Is this like 10 comments now?
I think you are approaching 10 comments yes. Something like that anyway. Is that what you were going for?
Seems like a nice even number. 🙂
Makes sense to me.
Except that we are both a bit odd, so maybe an odd number would be more appropriate?
Or, since we are both odd, when you add to odds you get an even, so it does make sense?
My brain just sploded. 😀
Sorry. Too much for a Monday?
Yeah. It’s okay…tomorrow is another day!
Yeah, but it’s a Tuesday. And, I am not a fan.
i am stone cold frozen in this tundra we call michigan, and need to win a wonderful book by that amazing author, djm, to warm me and get me through it.
Well it is a story of hope. Sort of. So, I hope you win and I hope it warms you up.
thanks, me too )
And, you can always share the cold weather with us out in CA… we hit a bunch of record highs last week. It’s gross.
I bought the ebook, but if you feel like sending me a signed copy I would be delighted.
I appreciate the support, and if you win one of the signed copies I would be delighted too. 😀
Woot!
Double Woot Woot!
Hey look, I sound like a train! 😀
Indeed.
Trains are awesome!
[Insert another prize winning comment here]
Hahahahaha
Funny. Funny.
I think if a comment like that ends up winning I’ll turn it into another post. 😛
Why did you choose this type of game?
Because i have to come up with 5 different games and I didn’t have a lot of time to be creative today.
Do you have some ideas for the next 4 days?
Poetry (a poem in honor of some singer/character), a review to a recipe of your choice, maybe the best caption to a cartoon or picture of your choice.
All great ideas! Thank you. (And when you see tomorrow’s game you have to trust me that I already had it scheduled before reading this.)
I trust you, not to worry, sir.
Woohooo!
Is there anybody out there?
Yes. Lots of anybodys in fact. More than I can count certainly and I can count pretty high.. all the way up to ten…
How fun! A very nice way to spend a Monday. Better than trying to work on the Weekly Writing Challenge. But it’s almost done. Then I can comment until my heart’s content.
I’m just about to start working on the WWC. I’ve got the idea, just need to get the words into a post. How is yours turning out?
Not too bad. I think it might be stretching the rules a little, but I believe that is allowed. I’m about two thirds done. Then the quick polish and off to the blogosphere it goes. Probably by this evening.
Cool. Can’t wait to read it! 😀
Back at ya!
Mine is up. And it is silly. But, you wouldn’t expect anything else from me, would you?
I wouldn’t expect anything less. 😀
Woohooo! 😀
Wow, step away for a lousy meeting and look what happens…
If I win the book, does that increase or decrease my chances of winning the lottery? Or will fate say “ok, you won something, next in line please”?
That’s a good question.
No, winning the book doesn’t make you less likely to win the lottery.
I’d actually argue the other way. Lucky people tend to win things in bunches. So, start with a book victory today and come up with the lottery numbers tomorrow? Sounds good to me.
Good plan. Then I can come out and have you sign it for me personally!
That could definitely be arranged. Just let me know when your flight is going to land at LAX.
Hi DJ! Hmm … well … Go Team Marvel! I win, right?!
You have a definite chance of winning.
And, yes, Go Team Marvel. We don’t want Banner getting upset.
I just watched Avenger’s again this afternoon. I thought you should know.
I watched it last week. 😀
You know you may regret this “every comment is an entry” thing 😉
Why?
I don’t remember.
So … how’s the weather!
Hot. I’m tired of it. I want winter weather already. How can I go snowboarding if there is no snow?!?!
We have snow, and below zero temps! I’ll trade ya!
Deal. Send me yours first and then I’ll send you mine.
Oh no, I know how that works. We’ll trade at the same time, on the count of 3!
1…
2 …
wait… are we going on 3? or 3 and then go?
Sorry, I had to break for dinner. Apparently they expect me to feed them as well as do laundry and clean, who knew?!
Ok then … let’s go on the 3 count!
I had to break for… driving home from work, jogging, dinner, dishes, putting the prince down, taking care of the cats… ah, life. Ain’t grand? 😉
Okay, here we go: 1
You can work on a snow-transportation system that would take all of the snow away from the inhospitable land of Pennsylvania and put it …. anywhere else. Please.
Hmmm, if my words could make it so, it would have already happened. Words I can do. Actual physical snow-transportation systems? Not so much.
What part of PA? I have family in Carlisle and Pittsburgh (Moon Township).
You just have to set your mind to it! Maybe.
I moved to Pittsburgh in October. It’s probably a nice place, but I moved here after living in Hawaii for a year. PA is hard to handle after that, even though I grew up the equally cold state of CT. I’ve even started reminiscing about cleaning the sand out of my car’s cupholders. Never could get it all.
ANYWAY, back to reality… I’m looking forward to your games this week!
Best of luck in the games!
And, yeah, from HI to PA would be quite the shift. I can definitely see that. But, why would you ever leave HI?
Thanks! Unfortunately, my money tree never took root and I couldn’t afford the island life anymore. Living on minimum wage there required the choice between paying rent or buying food…
Ouch. Yeah, I can see that would pose a few problems. Then again, for most of the year you could just sleep on the beach, right? No rent required! 😉
You know, I tried that one night, and a local homeless fellow stole the dress I had nearby… I found it later hung over a branch… Thankfully I had my bikini, but it was an unnerving experience nonetheless!
Oh my, that would be unnerving.
I think the only way I could over sleep on a beach is if there had been lots of drinking beforehand. And it was more liked passed out, rather than sleeping.
Hehe yes that helps. The downside is that when you wake up after a wine-induced snooze and realize that there is a homeless man nearby and that your clothes are not where you left them, you wonder how long he has been there and if you may be going crazy.
Good point. Note to self, do not get so drunk that I fall asleep on the beach. I think that’s an important lesson for everyone.
You know, it’s surprisingly hard to “just comment”… I saw what I had to do in order to have a chance to win a copy if your book and I was like “I can do that!” and then I was like “…but now I have no idea what to write in my comment…” lol 😀 Like commenting writers block… lol
Oh no! No commenting block here. Not allowed.
And look at that, you already well on your way to winning a copy of the book! 😀
Yay! 😀
And go Team Marvel! 😀
I second that! Go Team Marvel!

(well they started out as one word comments until Word Press didn’t like me trying to comment the word “comments” twice and told me I had already said that. Then I had to change what I was going to say and had to double up some words in order to not be told I was leaving duplicate comment… I also had to turn on my laptop to finish this because I broke the Word Press app on my phone with this attempt LOL)
Well played. Well played indeed. I was actually waiting to see if someone would do something like that. 😀
😀
😛
*takes a bow* 😀
Hahaha. Awesome.
Do I get extra entries into this contest for temporarily breaking my Word Press app while trying to leave comments on your post? *smiles hopefully* 🙂 😛
Kudos points? Yes. Extra entries? Not for this contest. But, maybe that will be one for later this week. 😉
My Word Press app is working again now btw. I think it just needed a nap… lol 😛
I think I could use a nap too.
BTW, have you found yourself yet DJ, or are you still lost somewhere in the Kingdom? Do you still need that search party organized? And if you do still need a search party, should there be music and party hats? Or am I thinking of the wrong kind of party? 😛
That’s exactly the right kind of party. Music and hats are essential for every kind of party, really. I think I’m found though, so that’s good. That doesn’t mean we still can’t have a party, right?
Of course we can still have a party! We’ll just change the theme from a search party to a Marvel Victory Party! 😀
Hooray!!
I’ll bring the music… and the booze. I’ll definitely bring the booze.
I started writing a story for it, but ended up stopping halfway to three quarters of the way through.
I thought the project would have been a good fit for you!
Maybe we’ll have to get Save the Kingdom published when we are done. Or, we could start something else?
It really wouldn’t make sense to publish Save the Kingdom. Why would anyone pay to read it when they can read it on our blogs for free?
We would take them off our blogs, of course. 😛
Where have I been all day?
Tripping down memory lane on my blog, and missing all the fun.
And wanting to know who won the Tug of War – think I’ll go check out FP’d…..hmmm
Sorry, the Tug-Of-War results will be delayed a bit as more numbers are getting added to the mix due to the FP. Plus the kingdom tallier was totally slacking and got the numbers all mixed. I’m going to have to sort through it and try to make heads or tails of it. Or, Marvel or DC of it, as the case may be. 😉
I’m ordering your book off of Amazon anyway.
But I wandered over to the Kingdom, and there were games!
I love games!
Games abound. A whole week of games to follow the week of silliness. 😀
Holy geeze. The only thing better than a book is a free book! I’m in. (Not that I don’t buy my fair share…)
Hard to go wrong with a free book. And here you are with a chance to win one! 😀
I love programming language! Defining variables, inner joins, grouping by…syntax errors…;-)
I had to do some joins in the code I wrote today. Good times. 😉
Select * from users where clue > 0…
Hahahahaha
That’s hilarious!
I can’t claim it, but it is pretty freakin funny.
I laughed out loud. I tried to explain it to the Queen but she didn’t follow.
Enh, i’m okay with eltting my Excel nerd flag fly.
EXCEL is powerful. BTW it is a balmy 10 degrees below 0 here. Be jealous!
I am jealous. it’s 70 here. Okay, it isn’t really 70, but the baby monitor says it is 70 in the kiddo’s room. And it’s not like we are running a heater or anything. I think we even have some windows open.
Ps Glad I made you laugh, for a change!
You make me a laugh bunches. 🙂
Reblogged this on Schevus Osborne and commented:
Stop by The Matticus Kingdom for chances to win free copies of Fauxpocalypse signed by contributor, Matt Blashill.
What do you consider the end of the day. Its 11:47
Hahaha, yeah. Your comment gets you in. I’m going to wrap up yesterday’s contest this morning in a little bit. And then kick off today’s contest.
I fear I might be too late to this particular contest, so off to find today’s chance to enter!
I haven’t had a chance to wrap up yesterday’s, so consider yourself entered.
And today’s contest goes up in just over two hours from now.
Cool. I’ll be there. Or thereabouts. Or something!!
Sounds good to me.
I can’t believe I missed your marvel vs dc! So ashamed. That was one awesome post you reblogged, though! Laughed my head off. Glad to know I’m not the only mom who does weird things with her kids’ toys. I want to win this contest.
Wherever did you put your Sad Pony and Squirrel stickers?
They on the desk (under the glass top) in the Little Prince’s room. 😀 They go very well with the other animals that adorn the walls.
Yay! My favorite in the comics is DC, but Marvel has made better movies. Mostly.
You never officially threw your support behind either team. Are you doing so now? (the official tally hasn’t happened yet) Are you picking DC?
yes!
DC support noted, officially. 😀 Thanks for playing.
Sorry, I’m late to the party – I would have liked a chance to win! Marvel – Ironman! Just Ironman!
I’m doing contests every day this week. You can still play along with today’s game!
[…] for today’s contest, we are going to reprise Monday’s contest. So, if you want the final signed copy of Fauxpocalypse, leave a comment, leave 50 comments, and […]
