The sun ripped open the sky, a gash of fire. The resting clouds acted like a torch, a match to set the horizon alight. The edge of the world burned, a towering inferno of brilliant flames.
The moment passed.
The sun had risen too far.
The clouds squelched the raging flames.
And the world carried on without realizing how close it had come to being consumed.
The sun would try again that evening.
