Love that it’s Friday
And a long weekend as well
Time for courting sleep
……………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………
It’s Friday, and this is silly, so it must be a Trifextra prompt response:
“This weekend’s prompt comes from Hello, Cheney, whose lapse in memory was a happy accident for us. This weekend we’re asking you to harken back to your grade school days and write a haiku. No word restrictions, just stick to the structure as defined below. And check out Cheney’s turkey post for an example.
: an unrhymed verse form of Japanese origin having three lines containing usually five, seven, and five syllables respectively”
Sleep?! Holiday weekends are all about packing in more fun than should be allowed in such a short time! Although your son might be young enough you can sleep. At 7 and 11, my boys make sure that the fun starts at 6:30 AM- holiday or not 🙂
6:30AM would be sleeping in for me! I was already at work by then this morning. And, yeah, the little prince is only 5 months old, and teething, so a long weekend gives me an extra day to pack in as much sleep as I can because I’m not getting a lot of it the rest of the time.
Sleep? You have an infant…nice try.
Sleep in spurts.
Sleeping with a 5-month-old? Good luck with that! 🙂
I like the simple, relatable sentiment behind your haiku. It’s the little things, right?
Yep, it sure is.
And I always get some sleep each night. An hour here, an hour there, a little more, a little less. It adds up… just not to very much.
“courting sleep” love that line
I played around with that line for a long time to get it to say what I wanted while staying within the 5 syllabel restrictions. Glad you liked it!
I always consider sleeping on the weekend, but there’s always so much to do; nice haiku. 🙂
Indeed. I slept in an extra hour this morning… but, I stayed up an extra hour last night, so… in the end it was all the same.
I feel you!
Well, I hope you get some good rest this weekend too then.
Same to you. 🙂

After years of sleep deprivation, I *am* courting sleep again, finally. Can I just offer that your patience will pay off–sleep will come to you, again, some time down the road? 🙂
Shh, don’t tell anyone, but the secret is that some nights I get more sleep than I ever did pre-baby because I’m going to bed earlier. I’m not getting solid sleep, of course, but I’m really not doing all that bad right now. This week was just hard because we couldn’t figure out what time zone we were supposed to be on – the kiddo was still on east coast, but work wanted me to be on west coast…
That was so hard for me, the getting to bed earlier part. I’m so glad you are disciplined enough to do it, but I guess your body would tell you that. 🙂 Hope you’re back in your own time zone…
Ha… sleeping… yes a litlle bit more I hope..
Last night didn’t work out so well for me. How’d you do?
Decent… but great hopes for tonight.
Me too. Best of luck.
LOL!!! My sister the teacher said the same.
She sounds smart! 😉

Ah, blessed sleep! I hope your courtship works out. 🙂
First date was a little rocky. Hopefully second date will be better.
Sleep? What is this sleep of which you speak? 😉
I think it is only a rumor at best, some sort of cruel joke at worst.
I seem to have some vague memory of it from prekid years … so rumour — nah. Cruel joke, now that would be about right.
What were we thinking? Kids…
I do a lot courting of sleep – I think I must be chasing too hard! 🙂
If you love something set it free…? So, if I stop trying, sleep will come to me on its own? That’s a worthy experiment.
I tried that one…. 🙂
A fun haiku! Those are few and far between.
What? Haikus are the best! 😉
Amen! I got nine hours last night. I don’t think that’s happened since college. Thanks for linking up.
9 hours? So, you got some extra you can spare for the rest of us?
