You’ll get the motivation for this post by the end….
My current top 12 favorite things (sort of) in no particular order (mostly):
#12 – Bruce Springsteen – listened to about five of his (and the E-Street band’s) songs on the way to work this morning. He truly is The Boss.
#11 – Princess Bride – probably referenced this movie fifteen times over the weekend. “It’s only the greatest movie ever made.”
#10 – Superman: Man of Steel – I’ve been watching the second trailer for this movie about once a day. It. Looks. Fantastic!
#09 – Stephen King’s Dark Tower series – I’ve been stuck in the middle of a terrible book for a very long time. I couldn’t talk myself into picking it up to finish it, and I couldn’t talk myself into putting it aside to start something else – “it got published, it must get better eventually…” Yesterday I pulled down “The Gunslinger” and will start reading the series again to give me something I know I love to read and cleanse my mind of that other terrible book.
#08 – Only 20 days left until the 2013 season kicks off for the Los Angeles Galaxy. Can we three-peat?
#07 – Did you know that there are lullaby versions of Green Day and No Doubt songs? My wife and I got them this past weekend at the baby shower. How cool is that?!
#06 – Family – both my family and my wife’s family are amazing.
#05 – Grumpy Cat Memes – I’m pretty sure I don’t need to elaborate.
#04 – Any top 10 list ever made – because it has two fewer entries than this list.
#03 – Any top 5 list ever made – because it has seven fewer entries than this list.
#02 – Jeff Dunham – normally I’d say that ventriloquism is kind of creepy, but the man is a hilarious genius.
#01 – Manchester United are 12 points clear at the top of the Premier League standings, with only 12 games left to play this season.
How funny about #7. On Friday I sent my friend a link to all of the rock and alt lullaby albums for her son who is a week-old today. Gotta get them started right when they are young. I just wish they had them when my Matthew was a baby.
And of course for #5, but I am a meme addict anyway.
Was such a fun gift! Hopefully our little one will like them. Hopefully our little one doesn’t like them so much we never listen to anything else every again!!
No!! Your No.1 favourite thing is Man United! Well, at least we beat them 1-0 at home back in November. Haha! 😉
Uh oh…. You mean you didn’t know I was a Red Devils fan already? I hope that doesn’t mean you are going to take back every nice thing you’ve ever said about me…? 😀 Norwich, eh? Well, I guess I won’t hold that against you. I wonder who I’d support if I actually lived over there… definitely whichever town I lived in, and not sure I could handle living in Manchester.
I knew you were a fan, but… really… No.1!!!!
Now there’s no need for that, The Canaries are a good team. Sometimes. But then, in my youth I did follow The Hammers (West Ham), so I can’t really blame you. 🙂
I always just like to find more people to talk football (soccer) with. I even chat it up with someone at volleyball every week who supports (gag me with a spoon) Liverpool.
Liverpool, now in their day they were the best team going. Not so much now though, Brendan Rodgers is proving a hit-and-miss Manager, mainly miss.
I think given enough time Brendan Rodgers will turn Liverpool around. I don’t think they will ever be the powerhouse they used to be, but, he could get them some more trophies here and there. I also think United will drop from their winning ways once Sir Alex steps down.
I think that will be a sad day for Man U when that happens. He should go down in history as being the best Manager ever. Did I really just say that! Nah, just kidding, he truly is in a class of his own. 🙂
LOL, don’t worry I won’t tell anyone.
😀
Wow. You never cease to amaze. First of all I will only quarrel with the location not the contents. I won’t bore you with stories of me as a teen, listening to Bruce Springsteen songs, drinking black label beer and thinking I wanted to be just like him. We both know the Princess Bride is high on my list. And anytime Superman is included in a list, that is great. Family is awesome so perhaps they should go above Manchester United, I am not sure what all that means but they must be in great position to win the game…….championship……….English cup?……………. As for waiting for the season to start, that is exactly how I feel about baseball. Pitchers and catchers report to Red Sox camp this week. Summer is not far away! thanks for the great list.
Glad you enjoyed the contents, if not the order. Though, I did say “in no particular order.” The Premier League is won by the team with the best record at the end of the season – so there is no play off games or championship games or anything like that. The team with the best record wins the trophy.
Seems a bit anti-climatic. Yes you did say no particular order, but I get all disoriented when I see Bruce Springsteen, and someone else who appreciates his music, I lose focus. 🙂
Yeah, I probably should have put the boss somewhere closer to #1. But, I used him as the hook to get people to keep reading. Seems to have worked out okay. 😉
Really great idea. I would have read the list anyway.
😀
#01 this was the best! Go Van Persie go!
He has been such a surprise for me this season. I never questioned his abilities, but I didn’t think he would mesh with the other players as he quickly as he did or stay healthy for as long as he has (quick, find some wood to knock on). It’s been a joy of season so far! With the possibility of the treble still in the works.
Yep!It’s sad he left Arsenal.
Well, it’s sad for Arsenal fans. But, really, they should have done more to keep him, and that isn’t necessarily about giving him more money. They should have kept the good players around him. Wenger is a great tactician – I have no doubt of that – and will be considered one of the great managers of the game; but, I think he probably could have fought to keep a few key players over the last few years and didn’t.
True that!
Hubby is a Man U supporter. They’re coming to Australia and he and my eldest son have tickets.
I cannot wait for Man of Steel! And Grumpy Cat is my favourite philosopher. Great post, can’t wait for the next one.
They were in the US a few summers ago, but the closest they got to me was a 2 hour plane ride away – and they were there at a time when I couldn’t really make that trip. Hopefully they’ll be back this way in a few years and I’ll have another chance to go see them. Thanks for the praise!
Awwww gawd, don’t you hate feeling commited to a bad book? So Stephen King is mental dental floss? Agreed! I just read The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon about a month ago and I have still not recovered. Talk about cry! I know, I know – sooky la la!! But that man can write!
Yes he can, almost to a ridiculous degree. Very excited for the TV version of Under The Dome.
You said what now?!?! How am I only hearing about this now? Oh, yeah… I live in Australia! Probably will filter down eventually.
It got a 30 second teaser bit during the Super Bowl – I missed it too, but a friend of mine (the one who turned me on to King in the first place) saw it and let me know about it. I think you can just Google Under The Dome and it will come up with the info on it – not sure there is a release date yet.
Thank you… and thank Google!
Would love a lullaby version of “Don’t Speak” for bedtime. Also, “I know we’re cool” for timeouts. haha.
“Don’t Speak” is on there. (I checked for that one first thing.) Don’t remember seeing “I Know We’re cool,” but will have to check for that tonight.
